Functional Factors
Beyond security considerations, the main entrance door can be chosen for its aesthetic appeal, sturdiness, and substantial feel-often a solid wood door. Bedroom doors prioritize privacy and a cozy atmosphere, so solid, opaque door types are typically preferred. Study room doors should offer good sound insulation and light transmission while featuring a strong design aesthetic; for instance, a wooden door with traditional lattice patterns can evoke a classic, scholarly elegance. Kitchen doors require good water resistance and a tight seal to effectively block cooking fumes, while bathroom doors focus primarily on privacy and water resistance.
Quality Factors
While consumers cannot personally oversee the manufacturing process at the factory, they can evaluate product quality through simple visual and tactile inspections. Run your hand over the door frame, panels, and corners; the surface should feel smooth and refined, without any rough or scratchy areas. Next, stand to the side of the door and look at the painted surface against the light to check for any unevenness or waviness. These two methods allow consumers to generally select a door with a high-quality appearance. When choosing a solid wood door, check the thickness and lightly tap the door surface; a uniform, deep, and solid sound indicates good quality. Weight: Generally, the higher the solid wood content, the heavier the door. Pure solid wood doors typically feature highly irregular surface grain patterns. Due to cost, processing methods, and equipment limitations, 90% of pre-hung wooden doors on the market use polyester lacquer, while a minority of manufacturers use PU lacquer. Generally, both polyester and PU lacquers undergo a six-step process-including color matching and the application of three base coats and two top coats-with some brands adding curing and waxing steps. Therefore, the finish is a crucial factor to consider, as it directly affects texture, tactile feel, moisture resistance, environmental safety, durability, and resistance to yellowing.
Price Factors
The price of solid wood doors varies depending on the type of wood used, the grain pattern, and other characteristics. Market prices range from 1,500 to 3,000 yuan. Low-end options include pine and fir (often used as core materials for engineered solid wood doors); mid-range options include mahogany, beech, *Malan* wood, and rubberwood; and high-end solid woods include walnut, cherry, sapele, red pear wood, and rosewood. A single premium teak door (excluding the door frame) can sell for 3,000 to 4,000 yuan. Generally, high-end solid wood doors undergo superior moisture-removal processing, resulting in a moisture content of around 8%; this ensures the finished door is less prone to warping or cracking and offers greater durability.
